This is the program I will be using for my 2015 lawn care. This system was developed by Allyn Hane (The Lawn Care Nut on Youtube), and is fully covered in his very detailed videos. Below are my condensed notes from his videos. I encourage everyone who wants a beautiful lawn to watch not just these videos, but all his videos. Links will be in the footnotes of this page.
Step 1
Spring (Late March / Early April) - Important: Ground must be thawed at least 4 - 5 inches below the surface
- Grass seed down in areas that need filling
- Lesco Starter Fertilizer 18-24-12
Step 1.5
Approximately 2 weeks after step 1
- More grass seed where needed
Completed 4/14/17
Step 2
Approximate 1 - 1 1/2 weeks after Step 1.5 will be applying 3 products - Important: Night time temps need to be above 45F
- Crabgrass preventer (Apply before soil temperatures reach 60F. Do not apply in shaded areas)
- Lesco w/ Dimension (crabgrass pre-emergent)
- Organic lawn fertilizer
- Milorgranite
- Liquid weed control
- Ortho concentrated weed control in hand sprayer can
Step 3
Mid-June
- Milorgranite
- 5lbs per 1,000 sq ft
- Grub prevention (with merit)
Step 4
Mid-September
- Aerate Lawn
- Starter Fertilizer (Lesco 18-24-12)
- Overseed
Additional Notes
- 1oz baby shampoo per gallon of weed control
- Rust Disease
- Patch Pro Fungicide (Propiconazole) Mix using 2oz per 1000 sq ft (14 - 28 days interval) Amazon Link
