I thought I’d save myself the trouble of preparing supper tonight by ordering a pizza. Though I wouldn’t normally order from the Hut, Pizza Hut has a new pizza called the Big Italy that looked interesting and caught my attention. Being of the technical age, I went ahead and ordered online via their website. I chose carryout, because I am cheap and this saves me the delivery fee and tip, plus I get the pizza sooner. The order was placed at 5:42 and would be ready to pickup at 5:58. I arrived to pick up the pizza about 5:55. There was one person there in front of me when I arrived who was speaking with a clerk when I walked in. After he was done, the clerk left the counter and headed out on a delivery. The other guy behind the counter was taking phone orders. I stood there for 10 minutes before I was acknowledged by anyone. I was becoming annoyed and I figured my pizza was sitting in the back somewhere getting stale. Finally, an employee who looked like he was just arriving at work took over the counter and asked who was next. It was me! I told him my name and he took the $12.66 I owed for my Big Italy pizza and then disappeared in to the back. I was confused, by this time I ordered my pizza 30 minutes ago. The guy taking phone orders was telling everyone they were under staffed this evening and behind schedule. I was told nothing. I then realized, my pizza hasn’t even been started yet. Now I was really annoyed, because they had no issue taking my money, but never told me that my pizza was extremely behind schedule. After about 10 more minutes, the guy who took my money, came back out to the counter and apologized for the delays and gave me and the other guy who was waiting 2 free pizza coupons each for the inconveniences. Ha, they redeemed themselves!

So I eventually got my pizza and it was pretty tasty. I just wish something was said earlier, instead of allowing me to stand there wondering what is going on. Plus, during this whole time, I had my kids in the car. But in the end, the employee did the right thing by compensating me for the inconvenience, so I’m no longer going to hold this experience against them.

I just recieved an email from Netflix that states they are keeping the user profiles that so many of their subscribers use.

I use their profiles for managing our queue, and thought that getting rid of them was a pretty bad idea, but I wasn’t going to do anything drastic, like cancel my service. Netflix is just too great. But like many, I am happy to here they are not eliminating profiles.

Here’s what they had to say:

We Are Keeping Netflix Profiles

Dear Chad,

You spoke, and we listened. We are keeping Profiles. Thank you for all the calls and emails telling us how important Profiles are.

We are sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused. We hope the next time you hear from us we will delight, and not disappoint, you.

-Your friends at Netflix

Every time I write a post using the Firefox plugin, ScribeFire, it schedules the post instead of actually publishing the content, even though I tell it to publish. Then the real kicker is I can’t figure out how to get it to publish via the WordPress control. If I tell it to publish, it just goes back to ‘Scheduled’. This is irrating.

Update: Ok, I believe I figured out why ScribeFire schedules the post. ScribeFire has it’s own timestamping functionality and my computers time is two hours ahead of the servers time, so wordpress won’t publish the story until the timestamp is equal to or greater than the ScribeFire timestamp.

Zenhabits has posted a great entry called 5 Powerful Reasons to Drive Slower, and How to Do It. I’ve been a ‘slower’ driver for years, and I can attest to some of the reasons to drive slower, the big one being save your sanity. When I’m driving, not worried about how soon I will get someplace, or being the first car in a group, I actually enjoy my time behind the wheel.

Also, looking at the list, I think ignoring other drivers is the number one easiest way to drive slower. It seems most drivers are in some unspoken contest with all other drivers around them. This invisible competition makes people drive faster and more aggressive.

Anyways, cool article and worth a read. And next time your on the road, keep it in the right hand lane, let everyone else pass you and enjoy the drive for once. You really won’t get there that much later!

Back when I was in high school, I owned a Honda Spree. I also had a car, but I rode the moped whenever I could. There was actually quite a few of us who rode mopeds, we were almost like a little moped gang. But over the recent years, I haven’t seen a lot of mopeds on the road like there was when I was in high school. Maybe kids nowadays are just ‘too cool’ for them. Hey, we were cool. We even souped them up to get more speed out them.

I’m starting to think that mopeds will be making a comeback. Just today I seen multiple mopeds in our parking lot. It makes sense, with gas prices being what they are. Anyone else noticing more on the roads?
