May be seeing Styx tonight.

They’re playing at out county fair tonight, which in itself is pretty sad. Styx is a band that’s only slightly before my time. I was listening to some of their soundclips available on their website and realized that they have quite a few cool songs that I never knew they sang.

I’m still not sure if I’m going to go, because we have a pretty big project day tomorrow, but I think I’m going to try and go.

Update: Confirmed, I’m going. The only reason I wouldn’t go is if the weather would turn bad. Now, if only I had a Mullet wig!

Out with the gang

Ever since we had the girls we’re no longer a small family, and when it comes to wanting to go somewhere, it’s a pretty big chore to load up everyone. Well this morning we did it. After breakfast we loaded everyone in the minivan and headed for the lakefront for a couple of hours.

The wife was pretty mad because I’ve been down by the tall ships display three times already and she wanted top she them too. I guess my pictures didn’t cut the mustard. So we took a quick drive through the area where all the festivities were happening. After she was satisfied with seeing the boats in person we headed a few blocks south were there wasn’t much going on at all. Parked, set up the stroller, loaded the girls in the stroller, made sure I had my camera, we finally headed down one of the paths. I took plenty of pictures I think they all turned out good so I made them an entire album for your viewing pleasure.

Even though it was a lot of work, it was well worth it. And tonight, we’re going to walk over to McDonalds for 39 cent cones.

I love road courses

Even though not everyone agrees with me, and I wasn’t thrilled with todays winner, I still love when Nascar goes to a road course. It’s a nice change of pace from always turning left, and usually provides some good racing. It definitely was more exciting than the Brickyard from last week.

Two weeks and then we will be at the best track on the Nascar circuit, and at night. It doesnt get no better than that.

Not so fun

So I’m surfing along this afternoon and all of a sudden my computer acts as though it’s locked up. Within seconds I realize that it’s not frozen just that the mouse stopped working. I use a microsoft cordless optical mouse and I just recently changed the batteries, about a week ago. I flip it over and notice that the LED is blinking rapidly, which I’m pretty sure is not right. I opened the battery compartment to find that one of the batteries has sprung a leak and was bubbling with whatever liquid is inside of batteries.

After digging the batteries out and thoroughly drying the inside of the compartment I put in a new set of batteries and I was back up.

Moral of the story: Never buy Rayovacs again.

Tall ships: Part 2

Well the rest of the sailing vessels arrived today. I went down after work to check out the situation. There were quite a few people there considering that the official festivities don’t kick off until Friday. The official name of the event is Kenosha Days of Discovery.

The first ship which was featured in yesterdays post has already left, so I’m glad I went down yesterday. A little info on that ship though; It’s called the HMS Bounty and was built in 1960 for the film ‘Mutiny on the Bounty‘, starring Marlon Brando. It has also been in a few other movies.

There’s quite a few new pictures in the gallery, so be sure to check them out.

New Blogroll

I’ve started a second blogroll that I called ‘Links’. I figured this would be a great way to remember sites I want bookmarked, if I’m not at my computer. I’m already loading it up.

Laptop’s acting up again

It’s doing the exact same thing it was doing a few months ago, basically completly locking up randomly. I personally believe it’s overheating. I received the shipping box from Toshiba today, but I need to backup all the data on it before I dare ship it in for repairs. The problem is, as I’m copying the data the thing keeps locking up on me. I had to reduce CPU speed from within power management to bring down the operating temp, but now the thing is performing like a turtle.

All this made me realize that I have 2.7 gigs of digital pictures stored on it. Probably a good idea to back it up anyways.

In other news…

Look what we’ll be picking really soon. Of all the garden stuff we grow, tomato’s are my absolute favorite.

And on a side note our corn is actually looking pretty good and some cucumbers are almost ready harvesting also. Yummy Yummy!
