Have to send my laptop in for repairs

My laptop has been displaying some unusual behavior lately and it finally prompted me to contact Toshiba.

Basically starting last week, the screen would go to a solid color and I could never get back to the OS. Hard powering the laptop wouldn’t work either. Even time it happens, I have to unplug it and pull the battery for a few minutes.

Last night, I reinstalled XP to see if it was a problem with the OS, but it’s locked up twice already.

So Toshiba is sending out a box so I can send it in for repairs. I’m really curious what they will find. My guess would be something with the graphics chip.

Plug time

Well, with Nascar about to kick off it’s season, I want to let everyone who visits this site know, that I also run a Nascar message board. So if your into Nascar, stop by BenchRacers Nascar Talk and get involved in the discussions.

There’s also something called the Armchair League, were you try to pick the top ten finishers. There’s no prizes or anything, just bragging rights for a week.

Are you in to maritime history?

I’d thought I’d pass on another web site I’m involved with.

Southport Video, is a production company in my town, and they produce documentary video’s(and DVDs) on historical shipwrecks, and lighthouses.

I did not design the site, I only maintain it and add content when there’s an update needed or a new release.

Back to work

After a 2 week hiatus, which was far from a vacation, I’m about to put the wraps on my first day back at work. It’s been a fairly unproductive day as I’m extremely tired. I can’t even focus my eyes right now.

In other news I’ve been following Kevins Haylafax experiences. I think it would be pretty cool to introduce this stuff to some of our clients.

And what about this? Jeff Green on the pole for Daytona?!? With him and Robby starting in the top 5, I’m worried that we may see the big one early in the race and taking out a lot of the field. Hope I’m wrong.

Tax season

After 3 years of using Turbo Tax, I’ve purchased TaxCut this year, due to some of the nasty stuff I heard about Turbo Tax.

Tonight I finally finished going through the ‘interview’ process and completed my federal and state returns. It was nice because Taxcut imported last years Turbo Tax file, but Tax Cut seemed a lot more complicated to use.

I really struggled on some of the topics and am a little concerned that I filled out some forms incorrectly or missed some deductions.

So now I’m considering bring my paperwork to an actual tax preparer and see what they come up with. Just in case there’s a major inconsistency, I think it will be money well spent. And if not, I’ll feel better about using Tax Cut next year.

Bear with me

I’m changing the story links to use what are known as search engine friendly URLs. Moving to this method has broken some other functionality and I’ll get it all working again soon. Mainly, it seems to affect displaying comments.

But right now, I’m going to bed!

Burned by Dotster DNS again, and again.

Yesterday, dns management for this domain expired, which made it unavailable late last night, fortunately I caught it right away and got it renewed last night so today it’s back.

But come to find out that dns management for another domain expired too. It happens to be the domain that handles all my incoming email. So I won’t be receiving any emails for most of the day. I guess thst means a spam-free day! I always try to look at the positive side of things. :)
